CAN-bus LED lamps are suitable for most newer cars with CAN-bus lighting control from about 2002 model year - such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen and Others.

CAN-bus is a system in the vehicle that enables communication between various components, including lighting. When a bulb break, this system notice it and notifies the driver by a lit is lamp and the voltage to the lamp is broken off.

The CAN-bus system monitors the lamp's power consumption. LEDs have very low power consumption and therefore perceive the car as defective bulbs.

To address this problem, there are special LEDs lamps which power consumption is simply higher, making LED acts as a standard bulb. CAN-bus lamps are also made so that if the lamp fails, the car perceive it and notify the driver.

If not desired LED bulb can be found in the CAN-bus design, you can use regular LED lamps but then a installed LED load equalizer is required. LED load equalizer increases power consumption and allows the use of normal LED lights. CAN-bus system will not detect a broken LED lamp with a LED load equalizer installed (only for the specific lamp with a LED load equalizer installed). A LED load equalizer is a resistor constructed to simply consume power
